Jim's Fonts for X

Here's what's here:

Notes

2015-Oct-24

You can find a mirror of the source repository for these fonts here: https://github.com/nikolas/jmk-x11-fonts

2000-Apr-12

I'm working hard to convert all these fonts to Unicode (also knows as the Universal Character Set or ISO-10646 encoding). Markus Kuhn has been a big help. Version 4.0 should be finished soon. Thanks for your patience!

1999-Aug-24

VERSION 3.0: Lots of additions and changes in this release, including ISO-8859-9 (Latin5, Western European + Turkish) and ISO-8859-15 (Latin9, Western European + Euro Symbol) encodings, much better bold weights of several font sizes, and shape tuning of the larger font sizes. See the NEWS and ChangeLog for important details.

As usual, please send me feedback.

In addition to the locations below, these fonts are also available from ftp://metalab.unc.edu/pub/Linux/X11/fonts/, once they move out of the Incoming directory.

What it isWhat's in it
README [7 kB] Contains general information about the jmk-x11-fonts package and instructions for installing.
NEWS [4 kB] Important notes for folks that have installed a prior release, with explanations of how certain changes will affect them.
ChangeLog [8 kB] Contains a detailed listing of changes for each release.
jmk-x11-fonts-3.0.lsm [1.5 kB] The LSM (Linux Software Map) entry for the jmk-x11-fonts package. Contains concise information about the location of the package, among other things.
jmk-x11-fonts-3.0.tar.gz [610 kB] The SourceTM. Contains all the stuff above, as well as all the other stuff that turns into fonts when you install it. This is a gzipped tarball (a tar archive compressed with gzip); you'll need both tar and gzip available in order to unpack it.
jmk-x11-fonts-3.0-1.i386.rpm [510 kB] An RPM package of the stuff in the source tarball above, suitable for installing directly on your Red Hat Linux system. This package is built for the x86 architecture (computers using [in alphabetical order] AMD K6/K6-II/etc. processors, Cyrix MII processors, Intel 386/486/Pentium/etc. processors, or compatible processors). If you want to install an RPM package on a different architecture, you'll have to build one from the source RPM package below.
jmk-x11-fonts-3.0-1.src.rpm [583 kB] A source RPM package containing all the stuff you need to build an installable RPM package like the one above. Useful for folks that have a non-x86 system or folks that are paranoid and want to build their own RPMs.
